Product Care

Preserving the Living Colours of Bengal

At Aranya, our textiles are meticulously handcrafted. Natural dyes respond organically to elements like water, sunlight, and wear. Following these care instructions will ensure your garments age beautifully.

Natural Dyes & Handlooms

  • Dry Cleaning Preferred: For longevity, we highly recommend professional dry cleaning, especially for silk and Jamdani pieces.
  • Gentle Hand Wash: If washing at home, hand wash separately in cold water using a mild, pH-neutral liquid detergent (like baby shampoo or Reetha).
  • Do Not Soak: Never soak natural dye garments. Quick dips are essential.
  • Bleeding is Natural: Indigo and madder may bleed slightly during the first few washes. This is a hallmark of authentic, chemical-free dyes.

Drying & Ironing

  • Shade Dry Only: Direct sunlight will drastically fade natural pigments. Always dry garments inside-out in a shaded, well-ventilated area.
  • Ironing: Use a warm iron applied on the reverse side of the fabric. Spritz lightly with water before ironing pure cottons for a crisp finish.

Jamdani Specifics

The intricate floating motifs of Jamdani require extreme care. Keep these items gently folded wrapped in a soft muslin cloth to allow the fibers to breathe. Avoid hanging heavy Jamdani sarees on wire hangers to prevent stretching.
